If you ask the right people, however, they'll simply tell you it's Zynga's answer to games like Mystery Manor and Playdom's Gardens of Time. Like all cross-promotions to hit FarmVille, this Hidden Chronicles one will come via a billboard, along with some lovely if distracting pop-ups for players to click through. And it looks like the Unwithers will be branded with the game's logo--how cute.
Hidden Chronicles, which has been open to the public for about a week now, has just 410,000 monthly players, according to AppData, which is rather slow growth for a Zynga game. Of course, this is especially so when compared to the likes of CastleVille. Regardless, it speaks to the developer's reliance on its existing player base through tricks like cross-promotions to garner that rapid growth. We'd imagine Zynga would like to see Hidden Chronicles reach critical mass as quickly as possible, so expect this event to start soon.
