We guess you could say today is the start of a new era for social games publisher 6waves. The Hong Kong and San Francisco-based company has confirmed that it is no longer known as 6waves Lolapps or 6L, but just 6waves. However, 6waves also announced that it has signed publishing deals with 32 developers globally, including big timers like Atari and Kabam.

This marks a return to 6waves's publishing roots after it laid off 100 percent of its development staff--the Lolapps portion of the company--recently. Just days ago, the publisher lost two executives that came with Lolapps as part of the acquisition, which makes it seem as if Lolapps has been officially dissolved as a developer. (Games like Ravenwood Fair are still up an running as of this writing.) But onto the good news (for 6waves).

The publisher has announced that it will publish 40 social games in the first half of 2012, all thanks to 32 publishing deals it signed with game makers across the globe. One of which, however, is downright surprising. Here are all of the game creators that 6waves will help push out games this year:

  • Adjoy, China
  • Antic Entertainment, Canada
  • Atari, USA
  • Big Blue Bubble, Canada
  • C.C.C.P., France
  • Chiwawa Games, Russia
  • Drimmi, Russia
  • Enteraction, UK
  • Game Insight, Russia
  • Gamecon, China
  • Guerillapps, USA
  • Hourblast Games, USA
  • iEvoTech, Russia
  • Imba Games, Isreal
  • izelus, USA
  • Jammy Pot, Korea
  • Jiangsu Juteng Network Technology, China
  • Kabam, USA
  • KOD Games, China
  • Large Animal/WMS, USA
  • Leiyoo, China
  • OSA, Russia
  • Pixonic, Russia
  • PlayDay, Hong Kong
  • Sharkus Games, UK
  • Socialinus, Korea
  • Starz/Large Animal, USA
  • UUC, China
  • White Rabbit Studios, Pakistan
  • Zodiak Active, UK

We'll be the first to admit that some of these developers are new to us, but quite a few are fresh in our memory. Namely, Dragons of Atlantis maker Kabam, Guerillapps, Large Animal and Pixonic should ring a bell. The surprise here is Atari, the legendary game brand that looks to turn itself around in the mobile and social games era, considering it once was a brand that needed no one. Despite a troubled 2012 so far, 6waves looks to about face in a big way--40 games in a few months could do the trick.

Are you bummed that Lolapps may be no more? Which of these developers are you most excited to see a new game from? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
