"AMC's 'The Walking Dead Social Game' is a next generation game for social networks," Eyes Wide Games CEO Stephen Griffin said in a release. "It's got deep playability. It's got drama, and it's still approachable for the casual audience. However, if you're a gamer and you've been looking for a deeper game to play and to experience on social networks then this is it."
RockYou and Eyes Wide look to appeal to the "mid-core" audience, a middle ground between casual and hardcore gamers, with The Walking Dead Social Game. Based on these screen shots, the game takes on the usual isometric approach, but seems to pack the gore and intensity that fans would expect. While players take the helm of their own group of survivors, they'll also run into characters from the series, like Rick, Daryl and Shane.
According to the release, The Walking Dead Social Game will stay true to the property, and attempt to address the physical and psychological effects of a zombie apocalypse. To that end, this Facebook game will feature the chance for failure as a core play hook, much like the games players would find on consoles and elsewhere. Expect a bloodier and gutsier (and brainy-er?) Facebook game than you might be used to. Are you excited for a Facebook game surrounding The Walking Dead?
