EA, Zynga settle copyright infringement, employee lawsuits

Last August, Electronic Arts filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Zynga over the many similarities between Zynga's The Ville and EA's The Sims Social on Facebook. Shortly thereafter, Zynga counter-sued, stating that EA had worked to stop employees from jumping ship from EA to Zynga.

According to Reuters, the drama between the two companies has settled, for now, as both companies have agreed to settle the two lawsuits. The specifics of the settlement agreements haven't been made public, but we're personally more concerned with what this means for the future of the Ville. No longer wrapped in lawsuits, could Zynga now refresh its support of the Ville, bringing it back to the forefront of its Facebook games catalog?

We've reached out to Zynga for comment on the matter, and will update this space if we hear back. Stay tuned.

Would you be interested in seeing Zynga return to active production for the Ville, or did you already stop playing the game long ago? Sound off in the comments!
