Here's the skinny: King.com's Candy Crush Saga sits tied at second place with Words With Friends at 6.4 million daily players, thanks to a massive 1.6 million daily player jump. Meanwhile, Dragon City has 3.9 million daily visitors accounting for its fifth place seat after a gain 600,000 daily players, displacing ChefVille and creeping up on Zynga Poker. Of course, a lot had to happen elsewhere for both King.com and Social Point to climb up the charts.
Aside from CityVille 2 and Words With Friends, all of Zynga's games featured in the top 25 chart have lost 100,000 or more daily players. This series of losses helped several games move up the list, but Social Point stood to benefit the most sitting in the 10 spot in November. Other highlights see The Sims Social return to the charts in a tie for 23rd place with CityVille, of all games, and newcomers like Halfquest and Geewa holding their ground 14th and 16th place, respectively.
But most importantly, what's up with Social Point? Is this merely a fluke due to Zynga (and others) losing players in nearly all of its games? And perhaps even more importantly, what's the deal with CityVille 2? Even after a run of cross promotions, the game has failed to even reach the top five in daily players. Here's to hoping Social Point's reign in the top five isn't short-lived--we could use some variety, after all.
