SimCity Social: Decorating just got easier with the arrival of item storage

While being able to store buildings and decorations in a city-building game seems like it would be a no-brainer, the folks at EA/Playfish are just now getting around to adding such an ability for players of SimCity Social on Facebook. We'll admit that this update is exciting, but shouldn't it have been there all along? Either way, we're not here to judge. Instead, we're here to give you a breakdown on how you can now easily redecorate your town, and remove any sort of limited edition "themed" content that you may no longer want on display in your town.

First things first, if you're looking to store a Business or Factory, you'll need to collect its profits (either Simoleons or Materials) first. From there, simply clicking on these items will show you the standard list of interactions (like the ability to upgrade or sell the item), with a new "Move to Inventory" cardboard box being added to the mix. As you might imagine, clicking this button sends that item flying into your inventory, and it can be pulled back out again just as simply, without needing to worry about re-upgrading or re-building items that you've completed previously.

This "Move to Inventory" ability isn't only available for Factories and Businesses though, as you can store entire homes, decorations and more. In the case of the recent Halloween event, for instance, you can now store its themed buildings to bring your city back to a "normal" appearance, or you can store smaller homes that you may no longer need in order to place a larger decoration or building that will give your town a bigger boost than that home would have on its own.

Needless to say, this new storage ability gives players tons of freedom when it comes to redecorating their towns, and will also help them make the most out of their town's population, as they can more easily rearrange large decorative items in their town's neighborhoods, boosting their population even further than they might have been able to otherwise (that is, without selling items and wasting Simoleons to buy them again later).

As of right now, there doesn't look to be a storage limit in terms of inventory size in our towns, but we'll make sure to let you know if we find one later on. Stay tuned!
