Can you believe that this is the sixth With Friends to see global release? We sure can--you're still playing Words With Friends, right? Zynga has announced the worldwide launch of Gems With Friends on iPhone and iPad. That's right, the matching game that we reviewed (and enjoyed) last month is finally here in the U.S. and abroad on iOS devices.Gems With Friends is a turn-based gem matching that sees players trading blows, so to speak, matching like-colored gems to score points. Players receive one Power Gem each play session that allows them to match any gem with another, and can chat just like they do in Words With Friends and the four other With Friends games in the franchise.
According to Zynga's release, about 53 million With friends games are played at any given time, with approximately 6 million chat messages sent daily. By our indication, this new release will only add to those insane numbers. But as Inside Social Games points out, the success of the With Friends games are falling further away from the original with every release.
