Angry Birds maker says 'bye-bye, birdies,' announces Bad Piggies

The tired storied Angry Birds franchise is about to go in a whole new direction. Creator Rovio has announced Bad Piggies, a brand new iOS, Android and Mac game set in the Angry Birds universe. Slated for a Sept. 27 launch, Bad Piggies will put the green piglets in a starring, and more importantly, playable role that will turn "the franchise on its head," according to Rovio.

As TouchArcade points out, Rovio clearly feels the need to be as vague as possible, teasing that Bad Piggies will bring with it "all-new, never-before-seen gameplay." We imagine, or hope, this means Rovio will step away from the physics-based, flinging play hook that put Angry Birds on the map and try something completely different with Bad Piggies.
