As reported by TechCrunch, this acquisition helps GREE move further into the western gaming market. This comes after another major announcement this week, that GREE had solidified an exclusive deal with both CrowdStar and iWin that will see both developers releasing future games solely on GREE's network. This includes the next installment in the hit "It Girl" franchise from CrowdStar and iWin's 1 vs 100.
"The team at Funzio is creating some of the best mobile games in the world today. This acquisition allows us to join their talent and expertise with our vision for a mobile social gaming ecosystem." said Naoki Aoyagi, Chief Executive Officer of GREE International, via a company press release. "We are extremely excited to expand our mid-core portfolio and continue to show how the mobile games market is the inevitable next step for gamers worldwide."
While Facebook and mobile gamers shouldn't expect ground-breaking changes in any of Funzio's games in relation to its acquisition, we'll make sure to let you know if that changes. Stay tuned!
