One is tiny (but only by name), the other is tall. Both Kingdoms of Camelot creator Kabam and Tiny Tower maker NimbleBit have signed on with DeNA and ngmoco to bring their games to the social gaming duo's Mobage network on Android. According to VentureBeat, the announcement was made during DeNA's Mobage forum in Tokyo, Japan.Kabam's first mobile game, Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North, will make the jump to Mobage on Android this summer, while NimbleBit will start its stint on Mobage with Pocket Planes, its upcoming airline simulation in vein of Tiny Tower. The latter move is especially interesting considering the developer reportedly turned down a buyout deal from Zynga before the Dream Heights fiasco earlier this year.
"A lot of our work is coming to fruition," Ngmoco VP Clive Downie told VentureBeat. "Kabam is one of the leading hardcore game companies on social, and they will bring their titles to mobile over a period of time." But really both of these moves are a boon for Mobage, which looks to build the largest global mobile social gaming network around. We'd call this a deal that's both core and casual, but anyone who has played Tiny Tower knows that NimbleBit walks a rather fine line.
